When configuring a heat meter to work with a Guru Hub, upon the commissioning of the Hub a meter needs to have specific values set inside the commissioning app. The recommended settings are listed in the table below.

Please also note that whilst we try to ensure a broad range of compatibility, we cannot guarantee results of meters we have not tested, or meters which we have tested but where there may be a firmware version difference. If you do notice a firmware version difference then please get in touch.

In every case, please consult the manufacturer's documentation on how to connect the meter and in some cases configure the meter to support mbus fully.

To search for a meter name quickly, press Ctrl + F on your keyboard and type the name of the meter you're looking for.

Things to remember: If more than one meter exists on a Guru hub then the mbus addresses must not be the same on each meter. You will need to have the mbus addresses reconfigured for each of the meters

Click on the name of the meter to see associated data sheets where they are available.

Pulse Meters

  • Most pulse meters are accepted by the hub, if however there is an abnormal length of pulse signal then this can cause misreads due to how the pulse is supposed to work.
  • In order to add a pulse meter, you will need to insert the pulse rate per unit after the pulse addressing. e.g. pulse/0/100 for 100 pulses per unit.
  • A pulse signal length can be determined by holding a multimeter on its continuity setting and then attaching the wires from the meter and running consumption through the meter, this will give an audible noise when the pulse contact is made.
  • It is highly recommended that the pulse cable can be no longer that 15  meters due to voltage drop over the length of a cable.

Unapproved & unsupported

The meters below have mbus support, and can be wired to the Guru hub, but Guru will not support any issues that may arise with these

Caveats

*The Landis and Gyr T230 / Ista Ultego Smart III is not approved on Guru Top Units with a serial number lower than A0155600 at present due to comms with the meter being unreliable.

** For battery-powered meters, please confirm the maximum polling frequency with your meter supplier to ensure battery life is not adversely affected. Setting this to 5 seconds will severely shorten battery life.

***If the return the temp becomes greater than the flow temp, the Kamstrup does not flag this up as negative consumption. It does however not add to the total consumption, but it does skew the instantaneous demand when viewing on the HES.

****Mbus register for power must be added to the meter to send it to the hub. If this is not done, there is no instantaneous demand given to the hub. Please seek correct documentation from the manufacturer.
